Dr. Erick Brookins
Lead Pastor
Pastor Erick has a passion for helping people understand and apply God’s Word in practical ways. Through biblical teaching, humor, and real-life experiences, he seeks to make Scripture accessible, engaging, and relevant to everyday life.
Erick and his family have been part of the Surfside community from its beginnings and are deeply committed to helping people grow in their relationship with Christ. He often describes Surfside as “the perfect church for imperfect people”—a place where people can encounter God’s grace, find authentic community, and grow in their faith.
Before starting Surfside, Erick spent many years teaching, mentoring, and helping people navigate life’s challenges through the truth of Scripture. His teaching style combines biblical depth with practical application, encouraging people not only to learn God’s Word but to live it out in their daily lives.
He holds degrees in biology, education, theology, and ministry, bringing a unique blend of academic knowledge, life experience, and pastoral care to his ministry. Whether preaching on Sunday, counseling a family, leading a Bible study, or simply sharing a conversation over coffee, Erick’s desire is to help people know Christ more deeply and experience the hope found in Him.
Erick and his wife, Kristen, are the proud parents of five children and consider it a privilege to serve alongside the Surfside family as they pursue God’s mission together.
Pastor Steve McCrorie
Associate Pastor & Pastor of Outreach
Pastor Steve serves as Surfside’s Associate Pastor and leads many of our outreach and community service efforts. Through Surfside’s ACTION Team, he helps connect people with opportunities to serve both within the church and throughout the community, partnering with local organizations to meet needs and share Christ’s love in practical ways.
Known for his encouraging spirit and servant’s heart, Steve is passionate about helping people discover their gifts, get involved, and grow in their faith. He believes ministry happens both inside and outside the church walls and is committed to helping Surfside make a lasting impact throughout Brevard County and beyond.

Rodney Philips
Faith Stories & Sunday Focus Leader
Rodney is passionate about sharing the hope found in Jesus Christ and encouraging others to live out their faith with confidence. Along with his wife, Kristen, he is an active part of the Surfside family and is known for his servant’s heart, genuine encouragement, and love for people.
A retired military veteran and former submariner, Rodney helps share Faith Stories at Surfside, highlighting how God continues to transform lives today. His authenticity, wisdom, and steadfast faith make him a valued part of the Surfside leadership team.
Danielle Hanes
Children’s Ministry Director
Danielle leads Surfside’s children’s ministries with a passion for helping kids discover God’s love and grow in their faith. Through Kids Cove, nursery ministry, special events, and family-focused activities, she works to create a safe, fun, and Christ-centered environment where children can learn and thrive.
She is committed to partnering with parents as they guide their children spiritually, helping every child feel welcomed, valued, and excited to learn about Jesus. Whether during a weekend service, Vacation Bible School, or a family event, Danielle’s goal is to help children and families connect with Christ and one another.
Denise Lusby
Worship Leader
Originally from upstate New York, Denise has a passion for helping people connect with God through worship. She leads Surfside’s worship ministry with a heart for creating an atmosphere where people can encounter Christ, grow in their faith, and worship together as a church family.
Denise and her family have made Surfside their home and are actively involved in the life of the church. Whether leading worship, mentoring team members, or encouraging others in their walk with Christ, her desire is to point people toward Jesus and help them experience the hope, peace, and joy found in Him.
